Sleep Medicine Doctors - Plano, TX

"First off, they use the worst AI preregistration software. Be ready to answer extremely personal questions multiple times since they will bombard you with emails and texts to do it over and over again. 30 minutes before my appointment they call saying they would like a telehealth appointment instead. It takes me 50 minutes to get to the office. I took 3 hours of sick leave for this appointment. 10 minutes after my appointment is supposed to start they tell me the doctor is picking up their children because of an active shooter at the school. With the same breath they ask me to pay for the appointment. I question the doctors ability to give me her full attention while running late, picking up children during stressful time, and the fact you’re already late to appointment. I decline to pay and meet due to the unprofessionalism. At this point, I’m incredulous at how greedy and unprofessional this doctor and office is. How can you tell me you’re rescuing your children while still wanting to meet with a patient? How can you tell me that you are giving me your best? Never experienced such immature unprofessional behavior from a MD. "

"I had been seeing Dr. Stevenson since 2008 for Restless Legs Syndrome. In the spring he sent me home with a device to see if I had sleep apnea. The device malfunctioned. I told him about this and he told me that I had sleep apnea and needed to buy a cpap machine from the company he was going to refer me to. I repeatedly asked him to order a sleep study in their sleep lab. The last time I had a sleep study done in their sleep lab was several years ago and it did not indicate that I had sleep apnea. Dr. Stevenson refused to order the sleep study. Instead he sent me a certified letter dismissing me as his patient and only gave me 30 days to find another doctor and said that after that he would no longer approve medication refills. I did some research online and found that those are heavily sedating medications and for the last several years have asked him to prescribe less sedating medications. He always refused. My new doctor just evaluated the results of the sleep study he ordered for me recently and told me that I do not have sleep apnea. Dr. Stevenson has always been very condescending with me when I made any kind of request. If I tried to ask him a question he would always dismiss me with a rude response. I always experienced him as arrogant."

"I have been a patient in this practice for about four years. I have been treated average to poor over all my visits. When they could not read my cpap chip they accused me of doing something to it. When my pre-certification was denied they would not help me understand the confusing language on the denial. When I learned I needed a letter for medical necessity they wanted $50 to write it. When you call to talk to someone one half the time the call is not answered. If it goes to voicemail, you almost guaranteed no return call will happen. Dr. Kakar himself is lacking any bedside manner. He's in/out and does the minimum medically necessary."
