Family Medicine practitioners - Mount Dora, FL

"I called at 8:44am and a woman answers with "hello?!" as if I'm bothering her. I verified I called a Dr. office & asked if he was accepting new patients. I could not understand her (thick accent) and this appeared to aggrevated her and I appologized. We ended up with an appointment and she then asked if he will be needed to fill any meds, I said only "Zanaflex". She immediately became hostile and cancelled the appt. I told her I wanted the appt and the Dr and I will talk about any possible issues. She put me on hold for 30 seconds & came back and said, "No, find someone else". My husband was beside me the entire time and asked if I was okay. No I wasn't because I was treated horrifically as if I were a drug addict. This was a disgusting experience and I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else in Lake County."

"I firmly believe this Doctor was deliberately misleading about his ability to prescribe pain relievers to a patient in and out of severe pain for several days. I would never go to a doctor that misleads you and you have several nights of very bad unnecessary pain. If you have pain, he tells you, "go to the ER.""

"Be sure to ask a lot of questions upfront about their policies. I was surprised to learn that a blood panel would be needed quarterly prior to getting a refill for what is a very low dose prescription I have been taking for 20 years - the one and only prescription I have. I am a relatively healthy adult with no major health issues. There is a also a policy that they will not combine certain types of appointments/consulations so you may end up going in more frequently than is really necessary. Plus, they have no Patient Portal to communicate results online, and they don't even have their Patient Forms online (you have to go into pick them up if you want to complete them in advance). I found the office staff to be a bit curt, and neither the doctor nor the staff were very welcoming in regard to questions I posed. It didn't take me long to realize this practice was just not going to be a good fit for me. If you have a lot of time on your hands and don't mind being told "what is what" vs. being part of a conversation about your health needs, then go for it. This practice needs to understand that a one-size-fits-all approach is NOT a patient-centric approach to healthcare."
