Shoulder Arthritis

Shoulder arthritis is a very common condition that causes pain, stiffness, or a grinding sensation in the shoulder. Some patients may hear a clicking or popping noise, and all symptoms are more noticeable when moving. Arthritis occurs when the cartilage that cushions joints becomes damaged.

Normally, when two bones come together inside a joint, they are separated by a layer of tough, smooth cartilage. The cartilage allows the bones to glide across each other, which makes movement easier. Cartilage can be damaged by an injury, by an illness such as rheumatoid arthritis, or by simple wear and tear (osteoarthritis). In the shoulder, the two joints most commonly affected are the AC joint (where the shoulder blade and collarbone connect at the outside edge of the shoulder), and the glenohumeral joint (where the arm bone meets the shoulder blade).

Treatment for shoulder arthritis may include:

Ice and rest
Exercise and physical therapy
Over-the-counter pain medications
Corticosteroid injections
Surgery

Surgical treatments include the removal of inflamed tissue and joint reconstruction. The type of arthritis and severity of the damage will determine which treatment is most appropriate.

OHIO HEALTH SAYS IORIO “ACTED WITHIN SCOPE OF WORK”, just needs to “work on communication”. YOU TELL ME. TOTAL DISREGARD of patient rights, doctor responsibilities & the law. At 1 mo. check after PT, I was recovering from elbow surgery, slightly stiff shoulder, swelling in hand & arm, otherwise fine. Iorio recked my spine, neck, shoulder by GRABBING ME AND FORCING me into 3 positions I hadn’t been in since before surgery. DID NOT STOP when I told him to.  Apparently he & OH Health don’t abide by “no means no”. Was told off record by another ortho surgeon this was a messed up version of manipulation under anesthesia (MUA) - no anesthesia, no explanation. Neck & collar bones sank into my body, sprained wrist, ribs & hips out of alignment, shoulder deeply injured, hand & fingers deeply injured, emotional trauma, hair loss from pain & stress, wound up w/ CRPS & ulnar nerve entrapment. Year mark 5/24/22.  Currently in second round of PT, mainly for neck, & alignments by D.O. every other week. Almost able to walk without pain in hips, still difficult to sleep, spine in & out of alignment, shoulder to finger tips still healing. More to story, not enough room.
