Most patients and families find themselves under the care of a maternal-fetal medicine specialist because things aren't going exactly as planned. Usually, some unforeseen issue has arisen, and patients are fearful about what this could mean for the health of themselves, or their child(ren). I understand this experience firsthand, having navigated my own challenging high-risk pregnancy, delivery and neonatal course. It is such an honor to care for families under difficult circumstances, and work together to achieve the best possible outcome. I am both a realist and an optimist, and love working with families to achieve their best possible, even when a pregnancy isn't going according to plan.
