I had an appointment today, but I've been working with Dr. Miller for over a year. We work a lot with DBT skills and he helped me understand how and when to use them. Dr. Miller challenges me to see past my emotions of the moment and work to a wise mind where I am using both logic and emotion in balance. My most useful skill so far is mindful moments. So when I feel the panic brewing and the agitation coming, I can step aside and take a moment. Sometimes I concentrate on everything I hear, a single sound, or sometimes a song. This allows an opportunity to interrupt my panic and reset. It doesn't always work, but that's why I have other skills to use. At this moment, this is the first time in years that I have felt strong enough to handle life, I still have a ways to go, but if you want a psychologist that will challenge you, and help you keep your forward motions, Dr. Mill will do that. He also doesn't get mad if you don't believe him right away, and he will work with you to meet what you need.
