Endocrinologist - Bloomfield Hills, MI

"Our last visit before my husband went onto hospice. Not Dr. Bradlee's fault he is on hospice. In my one year dealing with Dr. Bradlee, I learned more about diabetes from outside reading and other sources than I did from the doctor. Our first one hour new patient visit was postponed because my husband was admitted to the hospital the day before. The follow-up new patient visit was cut short because the doctor personally drove the patient before us to the ER (a short distance) for an extremely high blood pressure rather than calling the ambulance. A dedicated doctor but the result was that our one hour new patient first visit was cut short. He told you what to do but was short on explaining the whys of what you were doing. I managed my husband's diabetes and high blood pressure both of which contributed to his stroke. It was a painful learning experience for me being thrust into the care manager role without preparation. One thing I didn't appreciate was that the primary physician had routine labs drawn every three months including the HgA1C. Dr Bradlee also drew labs at each appointment. Medicare only pays for one HgA1C test every three months. So we ended up paying for a test that the primary doctor was already doing. The HgA1C changes slowly so one test every three moths is enough to follow the course of the disease. Also his labs were done by an outside lab. The lab faxed the results to his office who then snail mailed the results to us. 10 days to 2 weeks for results to reach us. The primary doctor had labs done at St Joes. I could look up the results on my husband's my chart account the night he had the blood work done. Dr Bradlee has the knowledge but is rather brusk and abrupt in dispensing that knowledge to his patients. I was going to look for another endocrinologist when my husband went onto hospice. Also the front doors (two sets) into the building are not automatic. It is very hard while pushing a wheelchair to navigate the front entrance. I was very thankful when others were entering or leaving and would hold the doors for me. Bless them Lord."
