"I was a client of Sara's for 6 weeks. When I began with her she seemed so compassionate, however towards the end the compassion faded into judgement. She was very judgmental of my need to go into the hospital twice during this time. During one of my hospitalizations, she was angry that no hospital staff had contacted her during my first couple of days. I received reports from both a social worker and the medical director that she was being pushy, unprofessional, and seemed to show little compassion for me. They strongly recommended that I seek a different therapist. Her financial practices are not ethical all the time. She invited me to attend a group the day of, had me pay in advance. However, I became upset and didn't feel it was right to attend in the state of mind I was in so I texted her to let her know I was to upset to attend, she said ok. I wrote 2 checks that day, one for individual and the other for group. She cashed the individual check a couple days after she received it, and as I expected she did not cash the group check since I did not attend and neither of us were given a 48 hour notice so her cancellation policy did not apply in this situation. Then a week later she cashed the group check, ironically the same day I emailed her to tell her I was discontinuing services because I could no longer afford to pay out-of-pocket (she does not contract with any insurance companies). I emailed to question why she cashed the check and she sited the 48-hour cancellation policy, and that I could write up a formal appeal and she would consider it. I wrote the appeal and have yet to hear from her even when emailing her for a status (it has been nearly 4 weeks). I just discovered that she has 5 formal complaints lodged against her with the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board http://www.ksbsrb.org/disciplinaryactions.htm 2 of which she was disciplined for. Please read the information on the KSBSRB website prior to making an appointment with Sara. In reading one of the documents, I discovered she was fired from a previously held counseling job. I sure wish I had checked it. However I have now filed a complaint of my own siting the poor financial practice she did in my situation, and also failure to collaborate with other professionals. The later of which she has been disciplined for before. "
