Primary Care Doctors - Rushville, IN

"I went for my yearly physical examination to Dr. Brian's office in October, and a couple of months later I received a bill of $25 of my co-pay for Vitamin D test. I called up my insurance provider to ask why this test isn't covered 100%, and they informed me that this is because Dr. Brian's office didn't submit the correct code of this test under preventive health. I called up the billing department in Dr. Brian's office, and spoke with Cathy. She acknowledged that the code for this test were not of preventive health, but then gave me all sort of weird excuses on why the code was submitted that way - 1. Her first argument was that since you already have Vitamin D deficiency, so we could not have submitted this under preventive health. - I'd like to clear that I never had deficiency of Vitamin D before this test, and the deficiency only came out post the test results. So this argument of her didn't work well. 2. When I questioned her on first, Cathy said that Dr. Brian suggested this test based on his observation. - I fail to understand how Dr. Brian had this recommendation when he and I never discussed about anything closer to it, and he never even mentioned this to me one single time. If he did observe something, then that was never discussed with me. If he can predict deficiencies like this, then why do we need tests for? 3. When first and second reasons failed then Cathy gave me 3rd argument, saying Vitamin D test is not covered under insurance, and since they tested me for it so I'll have to pay my co-pay. - Again, when I went to their office, I made it clear that I'm here for regular physical exam. They took my blood sample, and didn't even discuss what all tests they're going to perform. It was understood at that time that the standard tests will be performed. If they wanted to do something outside of what is covered on physical, then they should have taken patient consent. There was no response from Cathy for a couple of days, and I had to go their office to sort this out. Cathy informed me that they'll write it off, but didn't except it was their office's mistake. That day she even said the correct codes were submitted for this test, which is oppostive of what she said over the phone. On top of it she said you'll have to change your primary care physician since I was not happy with their service. Instead of apologizing they are making me suffer to find a new physician. I wouldn't have gone to his office anyways, but I didn't expect his office to treat patients the way that they did."
