"my wife was referred to this guy by the specialist she is seeing for lupus. Before seeing Dr. nick I mean Kumar we get a letter in the mail talking about the cancer treatment she will be going through so of course I freak out and think there is something she hasn't told me which thank god wasn't the case. Next we show up for her first visit and the nurse that checks us in starts of by insulting both myself and my wife by telling her" oh I see you brought your son with you today". my beautiful wife is older than me but only by 11 months. at this point both of our faces are beat red as she leads us back to the office. If this is what she has to say about a pretty healthy person I can't Imagine what insults get slung at their stage 4 cancer patients they "treat" there. Kumar comes in and he talks a good game and smooths things over. to the lay person he really seemed to know what he was talking about.... until the bill came. now a lot of people would look at their bills and go wow that's a lot but it is what it is. but to drain our entire health spending account for a b12 deficiency test sure seemed like a lot. so we called blue cross blue shield because Kumar's office would not tell us what they charged to the lab. once blue cross blue shield gave us the information that Kumar's office refused to give we called back to kumar's office for them to explain the medical coding. Their response was nobody could help us with that. so we called the labs to find out what the marks were that he ordered up on the tests. turns out that Dr. Nick... (I did it again) I mean Kumar was ordering up all kinds of cancer tests on my wife. Again MY WIFE DOESN'T HAVE CANCER SHE HAS LUPUS. medical billing is currently investigating. This guy is a Crook and a fraud and just thought hey they are young they won't know any better. If your specialist or Doctor refers you to this guy tell them to find someone else. god only knows how much he has stolen from people that actually do have cancer that have been treated buy this quack. hope this rating saves at 0 stars they earned every one of the these goose eggs. "

What is Hematology?

Hematology is a medical specialty that focuses on diseases of the blood, bone marrow, and lymphatic system. Blood flows to every cell in our body and is extremely important to our survival. Problems with the production of blood cells or cancers that affect the blood can be very dangerous. Hematologists treat these and other diseases, such as:

Anemia, a low level of red blood cells
Low levels of white blood cells or platelets
Bleeding disorders, such as hemophilia
Clotting disorders, such as deep vein thrombosis
Cancers of the blood, such as leukemia and lymphoma

To diagnose a blood disorder, hematologists may look at the blood under a microscope in a procedure called a blood smear. They may order a lab test of the blood called a complete blood count. This test measures the levels of red and white blood cells, platelets, and hemoglobin in your blood. They may do lab tests to measure the levels of proteins in your blood needed for bleeding and clotting. They may even do a bone marrow biopsy to check a small sample of bone marrow for problems in how blood is being produced.

A hematologist may work with all kinds of patients. Specialized hematologists called pediatric hematologists work only with children. All hematologists work to diagnose disease and prescribe treatments in order to care for their patients. They also work with general practice physicians, pediatricians, oncologists, transplant specialists, and others to guide treatment. Healing any problems with your blood is the first step towards your whole body feeling better.
