Pediatricians - Hialeah, FL

"I must preface by saying I never write negative reviews but it’s worth mentioning my very unpleasant experience to steer you to a different practice. I went in today (waiting time was fine and front desk workers were very nice), but I was seen by what I think is a doctor who they call “Fefi,” I don’t know her actual name or position because she didn’t introduce herself to me, a new patient. At first the interaction was fine but she steeped out of the room and came back with food in her mouth and didn’t wash her hands before putting drops in my eyes. I asked her what the first drops were for and she literally said “don’t worry about it” which was my first moment of being uncomfortable because I think I deserve to know what drops are being put in my eye and for what reason. Secondly, she didn’t sanitize any of the equipment that she used to examine me, which is worrisome especially being in the middle of a pandemic. Lastly, I kept asking her if the doctor would see me and she continued ignoring my request until she told me to step out to wait for the doctor to see me but couldn’t tell me how long it would take (although I asked the front desk lady and she gave me an estimate with no problem). It seemed like there was no attention to the patient, and they were just trying to get everyone in and out. Dr. Belalcazar was a much better experience because he at least introduced himself. Although I spent about 2 minutes with him, one of which he spent trying to sell me the lasik eye surgery. Not once was I asked about any concerns I had for my vision or even when was the last time I had an eye exam. Overall, this was a negative experience for me. If you’re looking to get an overall examination of your vision at a place that actually cares to treat patients, I recommend going elsewhere. A Visionworks would have been cheaper (I paid $110 with insurance here), and likely a more positive experience."
