Orthopedists - Atlantis, FL

"I brought my son from Boca to see Dr. Ezra Berkowitz Orthopedic surgeon for the first time in Boyton and while I think doctor Berkowitz seems to be a great doctor, his assistant Jessica is a different story. She’s just plain nasty. When I left the day of the appointment which was a Thursday morning both my husband and I forgot to get a doctors note for my sons school. When I left about an hour later I called for to request a a doctors note, I was transferred to his “assistant” Jessica to an extension that rings and rings until a her voice mail comes on to leave a message. I left a voice message. On that Thursday she never returned my call. I call Friday then Monday of the following week. I waited And no call Wednesday, Thursday, a week later Jessica decides she’s going to return my call and I think God forbid this was a document request of more importance or anything else for that matter. You would think she’s an “assistant” and her job is to assist the doctor right? Well Jessica returns my call on a Thursday late afternoon around 530 -6 pm. She had a horrible tone like she’s bothered by returning my call from the beginning of the conversation. Horrible attitude. She says “you called and left me a message?” I said “yes, I called several times, I need… and she rudely interrupts me tell me “yes! You called over and over and then Your husband I think called too!” “What do you want the note to say!?” She was speaking to me like a I was bothering her by asking her to do her job. She was extremely short with me. It also seems like she’s never had a request for a doctors note for a school before since she seems clueless as to what a a doctors note should say. She continued to talk over me, told with the nastiest tone that I had to go back to office to pick up the note because she wasn’t emailing me, without any explanation. When I asked why? Again, Jessicas tone got loud and told me it was medical document in a very condescending tone like I was supposed to know that. At that point I told her to forget it all and I will be in the office first thing in the morning to both pick up the note and speak to Dr. Berkowitz so he’s aware of who he hired for his “assistant” and how rude and nasty she’s been and how long it takes her to return patients phone calls. Thats when she yelled to me “ok! My name is Jessica so and so her last name, which I barely could make out as in go ahead go complain what do I care it’s not like I’m going to get in any kind of trouble and I hung up. I would highly review the phone call if they monitored when speaking to a current patient since she might need more training on how to speak to people professionally. I honestly don’t think Dr. Berkowitz knows how nasty she is to his patients, I would be very surprised is he knew about this and let her get away with speaking to people like this. Maybe she’s over worked and under paid or hates her job or plain and simple has been there for too long and it’s not cut of for the medical field period, but she can’t treat people like this especially being in the medical field. It’s so unprofessional and considering my son is a new patient you would think he would want us us to not only leave with a good impression but also come back, right? So disappointing. She’s just nasty and shouldn’t be working with the Public in a medical field period. I spoke to Christina Martinez which told me she’s the director and she was very apologetic and said she would speak to Jessica. While speaking to Christina she emailed me the doctors note since Jessica was incompetent to do so. It’s sad to have to leave this bad review to what seems to be a great doctor but it’s unfortunate that sometimes you have great doctors and the staff ruins their reputation to the point where you won’t want to go back for a second visit. She seems to have been at this office for quiet sometime from what I was told and I honestly think that maybe just because of that same reason maybe she thinks she can get away with being nasty to patients. The way she spoke to me I don’t see how she was qualified to be placed in this position. "
