Rheumatologists - Monterey Park, CA

"I had been seeing Dr Yang for almost 4 years already. She will attend to all your needs, and do the referrals for you. But she's not very caring, and would oversee many of your problems unless you figured out it yourself and asked her about it. My Lupus has never gone into remission and I'm still taking a lot of meds and it doesn't seem to help, and I'm still in pain. As for the staffs, I had a lot of problems dealing with them and the medical group when trying to get my insurance approved or sometimes getting referrals approved, the staff doesn't really help out that much since they are busy 24/7 and that requires the patient to contact the medical group and the office staff and the insurance company many times, the process was frustrating and painful. Dealing with the staff in person is better than through phone. Wait time is often 30min. "

"I had an appointment scheduled a week in advance with Dr. Srinivasan for Thursday April 5th at 2:30 pm, for a rheumatology consult. I arrived at the office 15 minutes early having made the appointment in ZocDoc and submitted all of the initial intake paperwork in advance. The front office staff told me that they could not access ZocDoc so I'd have to fill out the paperwork again. I also discovered upon arriving that they only took cash for co-pays so had to walk across the street to an ATM to get cash for my visit. I thought about leaving about 45 minutes in but they had my insurance card and ID (and had been working on them for 45 minutes) and were still working on them. I was in the process of looking for a different rheumatologist to visit an hour and 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment time when I was called to the back where the nurse on duty - while handling other tasks, took my weight with a standard bathroom scale and my blood pressure with a digital cuff like the ones you can buy at CVS. I then met with the Dr, who was not Dr. Srinivasan, it was a general practitioner who does not specialize in rheumatology. He informed me that Dr. Srinivasan is not at this clinic on Thursdays, he's only there on Wednesday afternoons. When I asked why I had waited an hour and a half total to see Dr. Srinivasan, or any rheumatologist, when there was no rheumatologist in the office he said I'd have to ask the front office staff and I could come back next week. To get to this appointment I returned from visiting family in AZ, declined an important work meeting and then sat in an office for an hour and a half. I scheduled the appointment for this week as I teach and am on spring break. I asked the front office staff why the appointment was available for today if he was not here today and they said they don't have the password to the ZocDoc account so cannot keep track of appointments made there. This was a complete waste of time and if you are referred to Dr. Srinivasan I would strongly suggest going to his Monterey Park locations, where he is apparently at on Thursday mornings. Haven't been but am hoping it's not as bad as the Downy location."
